There is power in praying God’s Word out loud. As we declare His promises, we align ourselves with our new identity in Christ and walk in the Spirit.
Putting Off the Old, Putting On the New
“I put off the old man with his deeds and I put on the new man, renewed in knowledge after the image of Him who created me.”
Colossians 3:9–10 “you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”
Ephesians 4:24 “put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
Crucified With Christ, Living in Him
“I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live, yet not I, but Christ lives in me.”
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
Transformed by the Spirit
“I am changed into the same image from glory to glory by the Spirit of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 “we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Clothed in Christ
“I put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh. I am clothed with Christ.”
Romans 13:14 “Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.”
Galatians 3:27 “all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
Walking in Light and in the Spirit
“I put on the armor of light and walk decently as in the daytime. I walk in the Spirit and do not fulfill the lust of the flesh. I am led by the Spirit of God, for I am a child of God.”
Romans 13:12–13 “put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime…”
Galatians 5:16 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
Romans 8:14 “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”
The Mind and Fruit of the Spirit
“I have the mind of Christ and I think His thoughts. The fruit of the Spirit flows in my life; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. I live in the Spirit and also walk in the Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 2:16 “we have the mind of Christ.”
Galatians 5:22–23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Galatians 5:25 “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
Walking in Love
“I walk in love, as Christ loved me and gave Himself for me. The love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit.”
Ephesians 5:2 “walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Romans 5:5 “God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
Love in Action
“I am patient and kind. I am not envious or boastful. I am not proud or rude. I am not easily angered and I keep no record of wrongs.”
1 Corinthians 13:4–5 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
Forgiveness and Blessing Others
“I forgive others as Christ has forgiven me. I love my enemies, bless those who curse me, do good to those who hate me, and pray for those who spitefully use me and persecute me.”
Colossians 3:13 “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
Matthew 5:44 “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
“I am clothed in Christ, filled with His Spirit, and walk in love, forgiveness, and truth. My life is hidden in Him, renewed daily, and transformed from glory to glory.”
